These Are Not Brochure Shots

They came off the job-site camera in the order the work happened, which is why the set starts with chalk on shingles and ends with siding. Most roofing galleries only show the last frame, and the last frame is the least informative one: a finished roof looks identical whether the deck underneath it was replaced or shingled straight over.

The Inspection Frames

The first photos are hail damage circled in chalk on a live slope. That is what a HAAG certified inspection produces: strikes marked where they are, so density can be counted per square and the mat fracture can be told apart from a scuff or mechanical damage from a previous crew. A homeowner who has seen these photos of their own roof is in a very different position on a claim than one holding a verbal summary.

Tear-Off and Decking

The middle of the set is the part nobody photographs. Old shingles going into the trailer, a stripped plank deck being walked, original boards measured, and replacement decking let in where the planks had failed.

Then synthetic underlayment across the prepared deck. Every one of those decisions is invisible an hour later, which is exactly why it gets documented while the deck is open.

Install and Finish

Owens Corning bundles staged along the ridge, shingles going on, ridge vent run the full length, new pipe boots set into the field, and black flashing rebuilt around a brick chimney rather than caulked. Then a siding job in the order it happened: the rear corner in its original white siding with the brown shutters, the panels coming off, the wall stripped back to house wrap, and the same corner finished in gray.

Ten Properties, Not One

Everything described so far, and the close-up work that follows it, is one house. The last nineteen frames in the track are not.

Any contractor can photograph one good roof from nine angles, so here is what nine further properties look like: a low-slope roof beside an elevated highway with every old seam patched over, the same building's flat roof going down and then finished, a rear extension cut back to expose rotted rafters, a hip roof dried in under printed underlayment, a hail slope chalked up for a claim, a full ridge vent run, and one whole replacement photographed from the air before, during and after. Different houses, different roof shapes, different problems.

The Ones Shot From the Air

The aerial frames are the client's own drone footage, and they show a job the way nobody standing on the ground can see it: the whole roof at once, one slope stripped to its original wood planks while the other is already dried in, the crew spread across it, and the disposal trailer in the driveway. They are a little soft, because what we hold is a capture off the video rather than the video itself. We would rather show you a slightly soft picture of the real thing.

Yes. Every photo here came off our own job-site camera on real Central Maryland homes. None of it is stock imagery or a manufacturer's brochure shot.

Why are there inspection photos and not just finished roofs?

Because the inspection is the part homeowners never get shown. The chalk marks are hail strikes on a real slope, and that is the evidence a claim turns on.
