Scope in writing before anything is ordered
Retail jobs get a firm number and a firm install date. Insurance jobs get priced in Xactimate, which is what the carriers use, so the line items are already in the format an adjuster reads.
Permits get pulled as part of the job. Howard County and most of the towns around it require one on a roof replacement, and we schedule the county inspection.

Install day is short by design
Most residential replacements come off, get decked and go back on inside a single day, which keeps the house from sitting open under a tarp overnight. The old roof goes to bare wood, failed sheathing is shown to you and replaced, ice and water barrier runs the eaves and valleys, then underlayment, Owens Corning architectural shingles, flashing and ridge vent. Before the truck leaves, magnets go over the lawn and the driveway.
